Slide seals, door seal mod?

I noticed on our TT, the slide seals, over time, remained flat when it was extended. Meaning, memory developed in position.

So, I was wondering about doing the "Door Seal Mod" that is done on the door seals on Ford trucks. (I did mine a couple years ago to tighten the seals on all 4 doors)

I pulled a piece of the tubing I had used and it slid right into the slide external seals just like my doors. (3/8" OD tubing)

What do you guys think of doing this?

I would have to see a picture of your seal, but normally the wiper does the brunt of the sealing when the slide is extended. No reason not to do it, but I am not clear if you were having a problem.

No issue, I was just thinking that if a person was having an issue with the outer seals leaking while traveling, that adding the tube would benefit. Or, if these outer seals tend to start leaking over time.

Since I now have a fiberglass 5th wheel, maybe these seals (when slides are in) never leak being that they are against a flat surface all the time as opposed to the rolled aluminum sided trailers

Slides usually have the worse problem at floor level or at the bottom trim when the caulking breaks down. Occasionally I see a torn seal or a top seal that is leaking, but those are less often.

My favorite seals have a double wiper, one on the outside that is readily apparent and one behind that towards the inside that is less readily apparent.
