So the problem my truck just started having is that all my switched hot electronics are staying always hot (stereo, heater/fan, power windows) even with the ignition off and getting out. My initial thought was my ignition switch, I tried unplugging it and even removing the ignition fuses yet everything still has power. Anyone else had this problem?
I believe this is caused by a leak in the windshield, getting the GEM module wet. I am currently experiencing this whenever it rains. I am going to have the windshield removed and reinstalled to fix. Hopefully ...
I did just start experiencing this after a very long weekend full of non stop rain and I noticed some moisture on my pillar so that very well may be my problem as well. I'll look into it. Thank you
Finally got my windshield replaced $234.00 because they said it would be almost as much to remove and reinstall my old one ... The main point is that I think I was too late, this morning my truck almost didn't start like the batteries were real weak. I noticed the radio was faintly on (music playing low) when I got in the truck without the key on or in the ignition. Another symptom is my key fob is not working at all. I have the batteries charging now but the clock on the radio is still displaying the time and if I move the temperature controls around I hear clunking and such behind the dash without the key in. I attribute the key fob not working to the truck (computer/GEM??) thinking that the key is still in? I know it does not work when I try to lock/unlock the truck in cold weather when I leave it running, it forces me to use the key. It has been unusually wet this year here in Colorado as well. I do have clearance lights as well and I inspected them for leakage but didn't find anything alarming but I still will do some more reading on how to get the base off and decide what to do from there. Any help from anybody who has gone through this would be appreciated.
