New to The 6.7 world!

Well guys I have moved up in the world to 6.7 from my old 7.3!

I picked up a 2015 F-250 4x4 CC SB lariat,my first new truck from the dealer. I have been reading through the tech folders and I see the 6.7 mods are just as bad as the 7.3 are.

My marriage survived the 7.3 mods it will make it through having this truck.

I will post a pic as soon as I get one,but right now my wife is out driving it,she loves the truck. This will be working for me on future mods, I hope.

I will be working this truck, from pulling our camper to pulling the goose neck for work.

Question! What are the first things I should be watching for wile towing?

Thanks in advance for any Info.

I cant believe you got rid of the 7.3 OMG now you have to urinate into the DEF bottle. Have fun when the regen stops working and your on the side of the road waiting for the soot to burn off!

I still have the 7.3 just in case!

Re-gen and the pee tank will be a new experience for me.

download the bible (coffee book) from DTS. Read it that will help a lot.

I fill the DEF at a different interval than putting fuel in the tank.

I use the ford fill spout and buy the DEF from Wally world for the most part. Using the spout will prevent overfilling.

I can get almost 5K out of a full tank of def.

Towing a lot will allow for passive regens. So you may not see the cleaning exhaust filter message a whole. That is a good thing.

Things to watch out for while towing with a 6.7.....Probably just slow 7.3 powered trucks........just kidding.
Perhaps remove the cam sensor from your truck tool kit and replace it with an exhaust temp sensor.

Cool, I wish I had a 7.3 powered vehicle sitting in my garage, an excursion would do just fine.

Things to watch? Speed. Trailer tires. Secured cargo.

Seriously, the engine computers are controlling everything. In stock form you can't overheat or over drive this engine/trans.

My favorite feature of the whole truck is the "M" transmission. When I'm towing I almost always shift and select gears myself. I hate the way the transmission is programmed in auto. The ride is so much smoother when I'm shifting, so, try it.

I would recommend some type of engine monitor. I have the Edge CTS but there are others that are cheaper and use a connection to your phone or a tablet. The one advantage of the Edge is that it will do a manual regen.

Let us know how you like the 6.7 compared to the 7.3 for towing.

Not so sure that you'll need to make any mods to the engine or systems as this engine/transmission combination is far stronger than what is normally needed for even max GVWR...
Enjoy your new truck... Save your mod money and take the wife on holiday to a bed & breakfast or something...

Congratulations on your 6.7. I traded my 2000 7.3 for a 6.7 two years ago. While I really liked my 7.3, I am really impressed with the power and torque of my 6.7. Towing is a dream. I think you are going to love it.

Congratulations and welcome to the 6.7L section of FTE.

Here on the 6.7L section we talk a lot about mods on how the truck looks with tires, lifts, paint, decals but not so much around power or engine mods. Some members like to tune and delete but most people seem to want to retain their warranty. If something engine related goes wrong, this gets crazy expensive quick.

I was thinking of the topics most discussed on the 6.7L section of FTE.
  1. I or someone I lent my truck to put something other than diesel in my fuel tank or DEF in the DEF tank. Now what.
  2. Will this size tire fit. Are these good tires.
  3. Exhaust sensors
  4. 2011 Job 1 trucks dropping exhaust valves.
  5. Tune/Delete and the EPA
  6. DEF & regens
  7. Look at pictures of my new, crazy expensive truck.
  8. Warranty, Extended warranties, why Ford does not back their warranties very well.
  9. Shocks, sway bars, air systems, bags, rear end sag, Lights, LED lights, headlights, Fuel tanks.
  10. Difference between F250 and F350 trucks.
  11. How to get a good deal at the dealership or is the deal I have a good deal.
  12. I have new truck fever and want a RAM or GM. Help me convince myself or the wife that Ford sucks and I need a new truck.
  13. My truck gets 20+ MPG all day long.
  14. PM22A or any fuel additive.
  15. I have this CEL code. We all know that the dealer is the answer but I want to screw around with it for a week first.

The 6.7 is a great truck. There are some failures and breakdowns but in general, a very solid vehicle with great power.
