Noise from left front

On my 99 2WD Explorer when turning right and braking I can hear and feel through the floorbard a clunking sound coming from the left front. Sounds like a loose shock absorber. I have jacked it up and everything is tight. I replaced the pads, repacked the bearings and all looks good. Can't get it to happen when driving straight, on bumpy roads or turning left. Alignment is good. Could it be a bad caliper ? Or can a caliper cause a noise like this. I have never had a caliper go bad, so I don't know what problems they can cause other than sticking. The caliper is tightned to specs and I can't see anything visually wrong with it. The problem seemed to have started when I got the transmission fluid changed and the hose on the flushing equipment slipping off and poured transmission fluid all over the left front area. I took it to a car wash a cleaned it off This happened prior to me changing out the pads etc. The fluid did not get on the wheel area just on all the connectiong rods.
Any ideas?

Noise from left front

Buddy of mine warned me that the power steering on Explorers often has problems, and always asks if it has started banging or grinding on my turns yet..........just an idea

I have a '92 and have a clunking noise on the passenger side, up front. I thought it was loose shock, checked it and it was OK. Talked to previous Ford mechanic. He told me it was the bushing between the frame and the front arm. He said the bushing was close to the catalitic converter and because of the high heat from it, the bushing usually got hard and brittle. He said replace the bushing and the noise should go away. Maybe check how close your bushing is to the CC.

The previous post is correct in that the early model Explorers had radius arm bushing issues. Usually the problem starts on the right side since that's where the cat converter is. After enough miles, the left side will go as well. Not very expensive if you do it yourself, but it's a pita job...

I had a rubbling type noise on the front left. THought It might be something serious. I took it to the dealer prepared to pay a pretty penny to get it fixed. Guess what it was.....the tire. The treat was slightly feathered. Saved me a bunch. I decided to get the tranny completely flushed and refreshed. . Just check the simple things first......
