HOWDY!

I'm newbie to this forum but I LOVE Ford and trucks! I've been looking for a classic truck and have been running into some troubles on deciding what I specifically want so I'm hoping the knowledge here can help me figure it out. I've owned Fords for over 10 years now ranging from mustangs, F150's, F250, F350, and some of the suvs. Currently own a 2004 Excursion 5.4 Eddie Bauer. I've been searching for a project truck that my husband and I can work on. After looking at trucks from 1940-1980, I have to say without a doubt Fords just look nicer and sporty. I decided I wanted something that I could daily drive to work from time to time, fairly inexpensive to repair or find parts and sporty! I picked the F100, F150, F250 date range 1967-1979 SWB and 4x4 would prefer factory AC as well, automatic would make it easier if I need to use 4x4 and in the commute traffic. Oh and since gas is still over $1.00 I'd like the 351 or something other than 400 or 460. So far this must be a holy grail of trucks because the one we looked at today was pretty rough for $4k. Body was decent but most of the chrome was bend up, floor pans had rusted through, major components were pretty rough or rusty and had some rats nests in it so the whole wiring harness may need to be replaced. Thoughts, advice, etc?
Thanks in advance!
