coolant filter

Getting ready to install a coolant filter on my 95. My questions are where everyone has mounted them and what lines for sure to tap into. I believe it is the de gas bottle hose and the heater core lines. Not sure on the heater core lines if it matters which one or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated and any pictures also. Thanks.

I Teed into both heater hoses. The inlet to the filter teed into the hose from the head, and the filter outlet teed into the one that runs to the water pump. For mounting the filter, I made a bracket out of 2" angle iron, and mounted the filter to one angle, the other side angle was mounted on the alternator mount bracket. Sorry no pics. If you do a search by TJBeggs on coolant filter install, this is what I followed.

Having just done this, it's fresh in my mind. I tapped into both heater hoses as well, and mounted the filter just to the right of the heater box. I was doing an intercooler at the same time, so the plumbing for the IC limited my options somewhat. Here's a couple pictures of the finished project.

And just for good measure, here is the shopping cart from Amazon when I bought the parts. Ignore the hose clamps, the brass barbs and the tee. Those were for when I intended to tee it in to the pump and degas bottle lines, but it turns out that 3/8 coolant line is hard to come by. The filters and the base "kit" fit just fine. Then all you need is the hose, tees and clamps to tie into the heater hoses (all 5/8" if I recall correctly). That stuff I sourced locally. The filter base was about half the price on Amazon that it was locally. The radiator cap is just for good measure...

So the hose coming from the pump is the return and the hose from the head to the heater core is supply? My brain is thinking SBF and that seems backwards.

Nate, loose a lot of coolant when you change the filter?

Pretty sure head hose is supply and water pump hose is return cause then it will be able to circulate threw the engine

The supply to the filter is the hose that comes out of the head. The return from the filter runs to the pump, as the pump pulls the coolant threw the heater loop.
