exhaust back pressure line problems

I have a 1995 ford f250 7.3 diesel and I have just found out the line to my exhaust back pressure sensor is broken and my SOLUS Ultra snap on scanner say my exhaust back pressure is at 14.9 psi how can this be also at idle the ebp is at 14.9 along with the map sensor at 14.9 but when I'm driving and speed up the map sensor go's up to 25.7 is my exhaust back pressure sensor stuck or something not to good with diesels here also I should add when the vehical is off and key is one exhaust back pressure is still 14.9 and map psi is 14.0

The exhaust back pressure sensor is broken, the PCM knows it so it's defaulting to a default value.

It sounds like the values initially may be showing the atmospheric pressure, and the engine's operation is adding to that.

^^^^ Hint - what does the A in MAP stand for?

The EBP sensor is probably fine. You would expect it not to go up if the pipe to it broken.

I think Riffraff sells the pipes.

Ok so I have a new ebp sensor and it still reads 14 psi continously my map sensor still reads 14.9 but I also have no codes I have done all the tests and eveything only code I have is for the butterfly valve on the back of the turbo I just have it stuck open what's my problem is. Should my map and ebp read 1 or 2 at idle usually? I'm not the best with diesels

Is the pipe to the EBP sensor still broken? Is it clogged? If yes to either, then a perfectly good sensor (and your old one probably was) will STILL not read above atmospheric, or at best only slightly above.

Does the MAP sensor reading go up when you drive the truck under some load? Not just revving it up in the driveway, but actually on the road, making a demand of the engine.

What does your BARO sensor read?

Your original sensor was good as it was reading the atmospheric pressure at the time. Default if the sensor is bad and connected is around 52.9 psi if the ECU senses the MAP and EBPS far apart. The ECU will not operate the EBPV under those conditions.

EBPS will usually read a tad higher than MAP. Mine is currently disconnected as I have no EBPV any more. Reads around 42 psi with it disconnected according to torque pro. No affect on engine performance that I can tell.
