Centurion engine swap question

so I recently stumbled upon a beautiful centurion 4 door bronco for $1200 that is missing the engine, the body/frame has no rust . it is based off an f150 (pictures were 5 lug wheels) so would these only have the 351? how hard would it be to replace. I'm also curious as to the weight of it because I would have to tow it 80 or so miles in a 1996 4.9 e4od 3.09 f150, would that be fine.

Awesome find. 4 door broncos are definitely unique truck and tend to capture the attention of those who know what they are. If you're in a smog controlled area, you'd have to install an engine from the same year or newer. You didnt mention a year but I assume its fuel injected. They're easy to come by. Check craigslist and you might find one already pulled for a few hundred bucks. As for the weight, I would estimate it to weigh around 6,000lbs. Check your rated tow capacity, a car carrier and bronco will probably exceed it.

It is a 1995, how difficult would something like this be (to put in an engine).

Not bad at all if you have all the mounts, hoses, electrical, etc. It sure as heck would be worth a try depending on what you level of skill is.

You can tow it with your truck but it would be much better if you found a buddy with a 3/4 ton and a good trailer.

My knowledge is limited but I would have my father with me who has done things like this before. This is basically my dream truck and I'm determined to make it happen.

Sounds like a fun project those Broncos are rare, I would go for it. Then go to the junkyard and pull a decent 302 or 351 with all associated wires, sensors, etc. around here you can grab one for about 250-400 bucks

The C150s came with 351/5.8L engines. Easy swap.

so it seems that this will happen so I started looking for engines and found a freshly rebuilt 1991 351, would I have to worry about compatibility? how hard would it be to put in a 302. If I do get it tomorrow I will be sure to post pictures.

You do not want a 302/5.0L..you need torque. Trust me.

There is some rust on the roof (and plenty of bondo) Other than that it checks out.

Very common problem area on those trucks. Great info on Centurions over at Traveler and Audra's site: Fourdoorbronco.com
