my 2000 f150 does something weird... occassionally the wipers come on for no apparent reason. Also the odometer blanks out after a weird click sound in the dash... i have heard mention of the odometer thing. Does it do this indefinately or does it eventually shut off for good? Anyone have experience witht the wiper issue?

Have you had a lot of rain lately? Is it parked outside primarily?
I would make sure that the electrical grounds & connections are all good.
But...this maybe is a issue with a leaking front windshield, which allows water to eventually get to the GEM module
Ghost wipers alone are usually remedied by replacing the multi function switch (turn signal switch). It's easy enough to do and takes about 10 minutes tops. The odometer issues sound like a water leak. That gem module will do some funky things when it gets wet. Do you have a Lund visor that could be leaking? Is your windshield leaking? If you got the time, pull down your pillar covers and drop the front of the headliner. Then have somebody soak it down with a hose while you're inside.

I think both may be windshield related. It has been dry this week and the problem has stopped. I think I will have a new windshield installed (it has a nice chip in it anyway) thank you for your reply
