I use trucks for work and transport. If you want to go fast does a truck make sense for that ?
Who ever said it was about going fast?
If an IDI will handle the stresses brought forth under huge loads from making twice as much power as was being made 3 years ago, it just proves that the engine is capable of lasting under the moderate loads that people were so scared of in days past.
There are guys running 90-100cc of fuel, head studs, a camshaft, with maybe an intercooler, all purchased for less than the difference in cost between a factory turbo IDI and OBS PSD, and putting down WAY more torque than an OBS PSD with the best tuning and stock injectors.
Cost for cost, including the cost of the vehicle, you can make a 7.3 IDI truck perform better than an OBS PSD, that's a FACT...
A stock non-turbo 5 speed truck from 92-94 will put 125hp to the wheels. A stock 93-94 IDIT will put close to 150hp to the wheels, so that factory rating of 5hp more than the Non-turbo is a complete farce pulled out of thin air...
If you have the option of an IDIT vs N/A, its a no brainer, on so many levels.
