After swapping the 91 5.8 into the 93, I have a leftover C6 tranny with considerably less miles (and a tranny jack)...
Is it feasible to keep the C6 along with driveshaft and any other pieces off this truck to swap onto the 93? I know the computer isn't going to be happy by not seeing the signal from the e4OD, but I can take the puter out of the old 91... I'm just wondering what's going to work... I can ignore codes popping up from a missing e4OD, but if it just won't work I'll sell the tranny outright...
How does the e4od work currently? I wouldn't do the swap if I didn't need to. Mostly because you loose the overdrive and locking torque converter. It will cause a hit in your mileage plus it will significantly raise your rpms at hwy speeds.
I believe your e4od should have all the updated parts, so it should be significantly more durable than the earlier versions. The most important thing to keep the e4od working correctly is to have a very large cooler and clean electrical . I remember reading that upgrading the pump and adding a shift kit is supposed to help.
FWIW, I currently have a c6 with an auxiliary overdrive in my '88 e250. I am contemplating swapping to an e4od and keeping my auxiliary OD.
