Digital More
Has anybody had an issue with 'Digital More'? It attaches to your browser with some 'search categories ' that relate to whatever you're looking at.
Trouble is that I've read that it's spyware at best and possibly a virus. It showed up on one of my computers -- but only Firefox. It takes up a lot of screen area, and I don't think that you want to click on any of the 'searches'.
McAfee wouldn't touch it, malicious software removal ignored it, and something called 'Ad Block' was only slightly successful.
Finally I read about it -- and they said to look for it in the control panel/programs. There it was sitting right in the program list. I did an uninstall, and it seems to be gone ( here's hoping).

If this is a program that has to be added wouldn't Windows or Microsoft Essentials catch it and create a warning box asking if its okay to make changes to the computer?
I know every time I've added a new ***** or similar thingy I've had to grant permission for it to even download.
Unless of course this exploitation has found a way to over ride administrator rights?

I haven't run across that one, but have dealt with many others..
I recommend Malwarebytes antimalware for cleaning this type of crap..
If you want to actively protect yourself from it you can purchase malwarebytes for $24 a year for 3 computers..
Pretty reasonable price for no headaches

Thanks DJ -- I'll have to start adding virtual beer to the virtual reps 
JWA -- I don't know how it got there -- I'm pretty careful about what I install, and about what little buddies that want to be added in.

I'll second the Malware Bytes product--even the free download is awesome, pretty much trounces even the more expensive by naturally subscription-base AV programs out there.
