Someone please help. I have a 1995 Mazda B3000 that intermittently decides not to start. WIll start right up, then next time not start again. Wait 20 minutes veh may start or may have to wait two days. Mechanic recommended new ecu. I replaced and two days later same problem. Vehicle turns over fine, does not stall while running. I am at the end of my rope with this thing...Please help, any suggestions I'll follow, any questions I'll answer.
sounds familiar...I have a 94 2.3L and my starter went out...I have never been in a circumstance were this happened before, so initially I was in the same boat you are. Something in the Celenoid quit, I turned the key and got the single click from the Fender mounted Relay, but never turned over...couple minutes (or hours or days) later...it would start just fine.
In order to solve my problem I used the Haynes manual and learned NOTHING...long story short..I took out the starter and took it to autozone, and they checked it on their machine. Didn't work several times they attempted to "start" it...then all the sudden it took off..then quit again....Replaced the starter and I have had NO problems with it since...
Take the starter somewere that it can be tested...many places don't charge to do it. Could help...could not...
Check to determine if you indeed have "spark" when the engine is turning over with the starter motor and will not spark. There is a inexpensive gadget that can be attached between the spark plug wire and the spark plug that will help. If there is no spark, check your Hall Effect sensor and the connections.

Don't do that, its not fun, just use a good plug and ground the threads.

I remember getting zapped by a Merc. outboard, my buddy started cranking it before I got the wires connected. He thought it was funny but I sure didn't.
I was putting a new carb on my old Mustang once. Turned it over and it startedrevving up to very high RPM's. I had started it with a remote starter switch so I couldn't just turn the key off. I decided I had to pull the coil wire off to kill it. It shut off all right. After I stood back up, I shut the key off and put the coil wire back on my new Accell 50,000 volt coil. Ouch. My arm hurt for a couple hours.
I have a 94 B 3000 that is exhibiting the exact same behavior. I have been duped into replacing the fuel pump and spark plugs, yet it still will not start. Have you determined what your problem was?
Simple things first: check all the appropriate cable connections for corrosion. Jump the starter solenoid (use a screwdriver and touch both of the bolts simultaneously) and if the car starts then that's probably it.
