No idea, this is the first I've heard of anyone with your issue. Is it a Ford cap that clicks when it gets tight, like a lot of car gas caps? Or one of the aftermarket caps like a Stant that just gets tight, no clicking?

Do it on a Saturday, make sure your dealer has a new cap and a new degas tank in stock. Then gently apply pressure with large channel locks. If you have to break it, then your buying parts. Make sure you get a FoMoCo cap and tank.

Got it off with some channel locks not sure what happened but I didn't crack the degas bottle so I'm happy lol new one screwed right on
