Adding brake controller- 2 questions

Adding a Tekonsha voyager brake controller and have 2 questions.

1) unit has the pig tails on the back, not a plug-n-play unit. The wiring adapter with pigtails on one end is proving difficult to find, however the 3034 with plugs on both ends is readily available. (Autozone will have one for me on Wed). Any reason I cannot cut off the plug that would normally go into the back of the unit and hard wire that to the voyager pigtails?

2) Any reason I should not mount the controller as pictured? I'm new to brake controllers, so any help/input/advice from the seasoned vets is appreciated.

As far as the adapter goes its no big deal, cut off the end that plugs into the controller and wire it into the v oyager with crimp connectors. The mounting location should work as far as I can tell you just have to make sure you can get the notch in the left **** of the controller to be 90 degrees to the ground as these controllers have a pendulum that must be level. I work at a trailer shop and have solved many trailer braking problems by leveling these controllers

I'd make sure your knee won't bump it also.

That should work, make sure you can reach it in case you need to manually turn the brakes on, and make on the fly adjustments like adding weight to the trailer or going down a steep incline you may want to put some more braking to the trailer.
