Request Advice on 92 Bronco Fuel Pump Hangar

92 Bronco 5.8 Eddie Bauer. I am replacing the fuel pump and fuel sending unit. Both confirmed bad. I have a question however on the wiring associated with the fuel pump hanger and whether that needs to be replaced as well. At the connector on the hangar the fuel pump red and black go to the first two pins (corresponds to org and pink-blk on the vehicle. The sender has a yellow wire that goes to pin 3 (corresponds to yel-white) on vehicle. There is a black ground wire on the vehicle harness that connects to the last pin (pin 4) of the hangar, that does not go anywhere, or connect to any part of the hangar. My specific question is, was there supposed to be a ground connection that may have corroded away, or is that ground supposed to dead end at the connector. Haynes shows the quantity sensor as a ground/yellow wire circuit, but I see no way for that to happen as the sensor has only one wire (yellow). Just don't want to go to all the trouble and have pump/quantify not work due to a missing ground. Thanks.

Black is ground return voltage, one black for fuel pump, one black for sensor.
One yellow hot for sensor, one red hot for pump.

Ford has the correct replacement for the fuel pump. the one I replaced came with the correct connection. The new connection had to be soldered into the old wires on my 1990. I did not get a new sensor, the old one replaced without any issue.
The old fuel pump didn't work because a valve in the plastic body of the fuel pump would displace after a time and the fuel pressure would drop and power would be lost because lack of fuel.

After installing the new fuel pump and quantity sender on the fuel pump hanger, the sender in fact did not work without a good ground. Apparently a connection to ground from the solid black wire corroded off at some point. I did a pin to ground repair, and the sensor tested correctly. So, I pretty much answered my own question during the reinstall test/correction. Thanks for your reply however.
