lost oil fill cap, now no oil pressure.
After my 05 failed to start the other day I opened the hood and to my surprise there was no oil fill cap anymore. Not sure what happened or how long i have been driving without it, but I'd be willing to bet that it is no coincidence that i no longer have oil pressure while cranking. I can only guess that dust or debris has enterd the oil system and im not really sure what the best approach is going forward. What might i be looking at as far as possible damage..... worst case scenario vs best case scenario

I would guess coincidence.
That debris if much, would have to travel down through the heads, into the oil tray, through the filter screen and then plug up the incoming line for the pump.
Not likely in my mind.
Get the ICP and IPR readings to determine the likelihood. Maybe just a standpipe o-ring leak, etc.
Nobody messed with your Fumoto valve did they?

It probably is a coincidence.
Um, do you HAVE a normal level of oil in the engine?
Pretty unlikely a missing oil cap will cause debris to enter the oil system. Blowby either slight or excessive will prevent that. (unless you've been fording deep creeks or something!) As far as timing of the loss of the cap, I would suspect that it came off (or never went back on) right after your last oil change.......
It's also pretty hard to diagnose a "No-Start" condition without connecting a scanning device (IDS, Scanguage etc) to the engine to observe (HPOP) oil pressure ICP valve operation etc etc.
Your regular oil pressure gage is essentially an "idiot" gage anyway........ Not much better than an idiot light.
Maybe someone will jump in here near you that can connect a scan tool to diagnose further. (you'll need to post your location)

Rick
