Question vin # help

I just purchased my first super duty a 2002 f350 lariat. Is there a way to find out all of the options the truck came with by using the vin #. My wife has chebby suburban and had a local dealership run the vin on it they printed a list with every option the truck came with when new. When I stopped by my local ford dealer he looked at me like I was on drugs. Any help is appreciated.

vin # help

No but you can wait 10 years and get a build sheet. Thats what ford told me. Also sometimes there is a build sheet under the seat.
There are ways to recognize some of the options just ask and I'm sure you will get answers..

Good luck with your new SD

ok I can't figure out why my VIN number doesn't follow the above legend. My vin off the door sticker is: 1FTNX20555EC46061. I can follow along until X20 then it goes wonky.

My engine code is Y on my vin, but there is no Y in the list. Down to that point everything is right with the list and truck.

See if this link will help. You may have to click on the year of your truck.

Now I have questions. The chart for light truck MPV has code Y for V-10, 305 hp, or the light medium or heavy truck chart has Y for a 6.0 diesel. My truck is a F-450, and has a V-10 gas engine. So is a F-450 a light, or medium truck over 11,000 lbs? The 4th digit says it is a 14,001-16,000 lb GVWR .

What does the VIN door label say your GVRW is? I suspect it is obvious you do not have the 6.0, so, you must have the V10

The door sticker says 16000 gvwr. Yes I have the V-10, the emblems say triton v10. Just wondering how they decide what engine to put in a truck, going by the vin. The other thing is, I would like to know if the truck has the original engine, but can't locate any engine ID numbers. Google says it is on the left rear, but have yet to locate it. The engine does not use oil, is pretty clean, and runs like a top, has 191,000 miles, and wondering what kind of maintenance it would need, if it really has original mileage. When you buy a used truck, you have no idea if the engine might have been replaced, especially if there have been multiple owners, which I suspect this truck has had.
