Well the deal fell apart for the C springs.
However-I was at the wrecking yard the other day buying three headrests for the Ex for the third seat as my kids are complaining about no being able to sleep easy on long trips to the cottage( I will post pics when I start on this project) and I saw a F350 extended cab 6.0 PSD that had just come in. The place was closing ut I managed to get a photo of the VIN and spring codes:
I have done some searching but I do not see a listing for Y codes? Are U springs softer than V springs for the front?
I have been searching for C codes as I am adding a second fuel tank and would rather have the Cs instead of the Bs
Does anyone know the rating for these?
Thanks,
Rob
From what I can tell the spring on that truck should be 350 lbs/in BUT it transitions very late. The transition load is ~2400 lbs vs. 1650 lbs for a B, ~1800 lbs for a C. If you're NOT towing, you may like them but if you are I think the late transition won't help and the back will really squat. Sorry it's not better news.
FWIW the part number on the spring should be 4C34 5560 MA (the 5560 isn't stamped but the other #s are). The service part number is 4C3Z 5560 MA.
Thanks for the info RobRoss. I guess I will keep looking as the whole purpose for swapping springs is to be able to tow better/less sag and gain some lift as well. I never would have guessed that a spring from something like a F350 would have a later transition rate.
Well I haven't given up on finding a set of used springs yet but everytime I find a set for sale it is either snapped up before I get a chance to get there or is 5-6 hour drive away. I was at the wrecking yard today looking for middle Lincoln Navigator consoles( may have found a few too) for my middle bucket seats and noticed a Super Duty that had just come in earlier in the week. I think it is around 2004 and is a four wheel drive and has all four leaf springs still. The badges are ripped off and there is no door sticker but I did get a VIN number.

Would anyone be able to decipher what spring codes are in it? I did notice that it only has the shorter rear riser blocks.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Rob
Assuming neither springs were changed since new, it should have U codes in the front, 390 lbs/in, the rears should be B codes. I'd use the rears but the fronts aren't significantly better than what you have now. HTH
Thanks for the quick response. I will see how much I can buy the rears for. Used springs go for quite a bit sometimes and I always wonder how wore out any used spring would be. After all they are coming out of three quarter and one tons.
I wish the exchange rate/border duty to the US dollar wasn't so steep. I would be contacting Junior at ATS as I have heard only good things.
I will let you know how I make out later this week.

You're welcome, I forgot to add that you'll need to remove the overload spring.
Well I am bringing this from the back burner and trying to locate front/rear springs again. I found a F350 crew cab at locally with a good tight 7.3 diesel motor. It didn't have the door sticker but I did manage to get the VIN off the dash. The price for the whole truck is $1500. My thought is to part it out and keep the springs.
Am I crazy? What is a good 7.3 worth nowadays?
The VIN number is 1FTSW3O(or C)F22EC55817
They also had a F250 gasser there with springs which I could possibly pick up for $250 cash.
The VIN number on this one is 1FTNF20XL2EC76640. This one has a door code sticker and the spring codes are EA. I have never heard of these codes.
If anyone could help it would be really appreciated.
Just reposting this in hopes that someone can help me with the VIN number decoding(F350, VIN 1FTSW3O(or C)F22EC55817) for the spring rates and if I should buy this truck for the rear springs.
Thanks everyone. I think I will get this if I can swing a deal and the motor looks good for resale. It would be nice to finally get the rear springs Now I just need to find fronts.
Well still trying to find a set of springs. I hate to ask for help again but I did find a set of springs but they don't have a VIN or even know what year they came from. They look in excellent shape as I could read the paint code numbers:
7C34-5A975-DF and they have "FRT" painted on them as well
Can anyone decipher this?
They are asking $300.00 for the pair with two brand new factory shocks as well.
If they truly are rear C codes can I use these springs with a factory 4" block to gain around 4" rear lift? I have my auxillary WVO tank ready to go on and I plan on adding a custom rear bumper so I would rather use C codes instead of B's
I did score a set of brand new air bags for the rear for 220.00 the other day. I guess lady luck does shine thru from time to time!
