So far everything has been to the south and west of campus except for 3 incidents monday that were near campus. But they were over with quick. Had a few protests form up near campus mostly students in them that marched to city hall. But nothing in the area which is a good thing. Not sure when the other police departments are going to be released yet. I know we have officers from all of the state of MD and NJ here.
Monday night was the worst of it all. Thats when the national guard was sent in after the mayor asked the gov. for a state of emergency. Monday they had looting, numerous fires around the city rocks being thrown, numerous cars vandalized in addition to the protesting. It was a riot in all sense of speaking. After that it settled down and then the curfew started on tuesday night and it has been calm since other then peaceful marching and protesting. They torched a few city police cars and one Transportation Authority Police van. Also had one guy intentionally puncture a supply line from a fire hydrant to a fire engine with a knife. He has been arrested and charged for that. Had numerous pieces of city fire quipment as well as mutual aid equipment damaged monday night as well. They had cinder blocks thrown at them as they would respond to calls. A few even had windshields busted out.
Sounds pretty bad. The news around here didnt report hardly any of that. Really doesnt make any sense to me at all. It justs ends up costing them money and rep.
It was monday night Tim. I am surprised I didnt get called into work. They called several officers in that night. The current home games for the orioles were moved to St. Petersburg Florida where the Tampa Bay Rays play.
Shoes, jackets, tv's, cigars, alcohol, you name it it was taken. And they even torched a CVS pharmacy. Another bldg that was burned down was in the process of being turned into affordable senior housing by a church in the area. Bldg collapsed in that fire. They even torched a liquor store.
