Driveshaft repair

I had a friend remove my driveshaft and I had it rebuilt by a driveline company.

3 Spicer Life u-joints, a center bearing, 2 clamp and bolt kits and they raised the splines on the front yoke.

$178.

Sure beats the $600 that Ford the dealer wanted. And Ford was just going to replace the u-joints.

Ford wanted $600 to change a couple u-joints??? You could buy a press and change every u-joint on the truck and still come out ahead...

$600.00 estimate from Ford???? I try to support the dealerships when I can but when you hear about prices like this, it makes you shop somewhere else.

Reman caliper at my local high end parts house $64.76, no core. SAME reman at Stealership $160+40 core! Guess where Im going! Stealership is operating on 150-200% markeup over the parts house. And the parts house is making 10-20%! Unreal! I understand making money but thats gouging. So thats why a 4 wheel brake job now-a-days is 1K at 100/hr labor rate at the stealership..... 1K for a brake job!

New center bearing, 3 new u-joints, less than $125, 3 hours. Also drilled the yoke and installed a zerk for the slipjoint. The Son and Heir helped as I can hardly get off the floor now after setting the pads for the lift unless I use a 5-gallon bucket for a push-off. I think the beer was about $18 but I got to drink some and keep a few for later

When using new bolts with the green thread locker that is factory installed on the bolts, is it necessary to also use blue thread locker?
