So short story even shorter.....I broke the head off of the plug. I got a screw driver in and was able to screw it in and out ie: got it tight and closed off. I shouldn't have to worry about it leaking should I or do I need to replace it before I drive it? I did fill it--not leaks, and got it to temp, no leaks.
They screw out all the way Unless you are like me and forget to release the pressure by undoing the degas cap. Start loosening the drain with pressure behind it and it launches under the truck. Makes a heck of a mess too cause the stream then misses the bucket.

Hahaha--I was wondering about that today. I wondered why the other TWO times I drained from the plug why it didn't drain as much as I thought it should. I just happened to pull the degas cap today (plug still in but loosed most of the way I suppose) and it sprayed all over tge front dif. Now I know why lol.
I kept my drain plug when I changed my radiator. (Guess I Know why now ) PM me an address and I can send it to ya. I got a lot going on so it might be a few days but freebies in the mail are fun.

Awesome---pm on the way. Haven't posted it yet but I have a spare turbo feed line myself if anyone needs it.
Many break them by using a wrench on the flats which puts all the torque load at the weakest point, just under the head. An 8mm Allen wrench brings the force into the body of the thread.

I'm guilty of using the wrench but (knock on wood) have never broken one.
