Overheating problem...00 expedition
I have replaced the folowing:
Thermostat
Water pump
Fan clutch
Tensioner pulley
I have done a complete flush and independently done a flush on just the heater core.
It is a intermediate problem. I drove for two hours yesterday stop and go with no problem. Today I drive home after the car is completely cooled for about 10 minutes and it begans to overheat.
Me and my father are stumped as what could be going on.
The oil is fine, not cloudy and no visible leaks.
Any help would be much appreciated. This car is in wonderful condition otherwise.
Also your Expy doesn't have a smallblock V8. I'll let a mod know and it can be moved.
Is the due to an air bubble or not, we can't figure out. We did bleed the air after the flush and replacing the water pump.
Except when we double checked the thermostat, air came bubbling out. In which we filled with coolant till air bubbles stopped.
Ideas or tipped on the best way to bleed this car? I would love to rule out/ fix the problem with just air in the system.
Does the "air" that you get out of the radiator smell like gasoline? If so, that's a blown head gasket.
The usual way to bleed air out of the system is to park on an incline, so the front of the car is much higher than the rear. With the engine cold, remove the radiator cap. Then start the engine and let it idle until it warms up enough to open the thermostat and circulate the coolant. The air should come to the highest point, hopefully your radiator, then escape out the fill hole. Carefully check the coolant level, and if it goes down, fill it up.
