Well, it don't pay to get in a hurry and be careless. I installed a new return spring on the carb of my '65 and didn't take the time to check my own work. (simple job right?) The primary wire from the coil got caught up in the spring and grounded, causing a series of TREMENDOUS backfires.
This dumb stunt now has me replacing the right exhaust manifold gasket and tracking down a wiring problem in the overdrive- which doesn't work any more.
#@%$! Baaahhhh, do I feel sheepish...

Been there, done that!! Fortunately a member has not started a thread on the topic of who holds the title for most 'stupid stunt' while working on their truck. Just to point out one of many, had to replace rebuilt 302 w/ around 15k miles because of carelessness on my part, at the tune of $1600. Learned not to remove spark plugs while continuing to work under the hood where an item could drop in the opening; mini flat washer, took me longer than usual to find the humor in it.
LOL would be interested to know how many others found out the lifters on a 292 mount 180° different between truck and car like I did, and why would they put the oiler holes in 2 different spots anyway
I feel your pain. I just spent all morning hooking up a trans cooler to my C6 trans. Ran the lines, everything nice and neat. I cranked it up for a test drive and all the sudden I hear this loud pop. I shut it down and look under the hood and coolant is streaming out of my "Be-Cool" radiator. I had forgot and left a pair of cutters on top of the radiator and they slipped off hitting the fan then slamming into the radiator punching a hole. It never ends.
Can someone make me feel better?
I wonder if I can patch the hole?

I could kick myself.
Since we're talking screwing up radiators maybe this will help you feel better. Got the 429tj running in my 69 galaxie- before i had the front sheet metal on. Thought I'd take it for a spin so I found a bucket for a car seat and took her out on the highway next to my house. Ran pretty well untill I floored it, didn't realize the fenders, hood, grill etc is what holds the radiator support in place. The radiator fan ate my radiator, fan shroud, etc etc.
Bet I'm dumber than you.

Wow...that may be worse. I bet there was no patching that rad. I was able to patch the hole on mine for half a bill. I feel a little better now
