Lightbulb HeHeHe..

my dad has a 1990 bronco II and my mom has a 1992 exploder. me and my dad are thinking about pulling the axles and motor from the exploder and putting them in the bronco. i know the 4.0 liter swap would work but im not sure about the axles. i think the exploder has an 8.8 inch rear. ?? does anyone know what the front axle is ?? any suggestions /help would be appreciated. thanks!

The front axle is a Dana 35, and, from most of what I've read, is very nearly a bolt in swap for the Dana 28. I think you need to shorten the front driveshaft is all the modification you need. It's a common swap.
As for the rear, the explorer axle is an 8.8 as opposed to the 7.5 in that's in the BII. Many people swap the 8.8 in. The major modification you need to make here is to convert the 8.8 from spring under to the spring over set-up that's on the BII.
These are both common swaps into the BII, and if you look here and around the web and at your favorite 4x4 specialist, you should be able to find all kinds of information for doing this.
Mechanical information anyway. I don't think any of us want to step into the "what if mom won't let us" issue. Your on your own as far as convincing your mom to sacrifice here explorer for your BII

Your 90 B2 may already have a D35 in the front, same as the Explorer. I think all 90 models mfgd 10/89 and earlier have the D28; those made 11/89 and later have the D35.

Check the door sticker for mfg date and count the bolts on the front of the front diff. 12 bolts is a D28, 10 bolts is a D35.

If you already have the D35, check gear ratios and then just swap the third member if needed.

While you're at it, swap the rear Explorer leafs into the B2 also.

The explorer leaf springs won't give you more than an inch of lift from the original stock B2 height. But it will ride better and eliminate the sagging rear that most B2s have.
