None Right now, I want to get a chip or programmer not sure what the difference would be in both.

I will get the exhaust changed I was thinking fo Bassani with headers to go with it.

And K&N air filter.

That would be about it for now.

Next is suspension, stiffer and traction bars and change the wheels and tires.

the truck only has 41000 original miles on it.

That can be handled with stock code, unless the headers are long tube headers then it would require custom code. No such thing as a programmer for your year, the computer is not flashable.

Hmm, someone help me out here. I came across a used (used only for 3 months with receipt and original box/instructions) Superchip Microtuner Model #1715 for my 97 Ford Explorer V8 AWD, the seller has the same truck and states that it can be used on mine once he downloads the stock parameters back to his Explorer. Is it true the Superchip module can still be used on my truck if he was to do this? Thanks to anyone who knows the answers to this.

Yes, it can be used on more than one vehicle as long as the previous vehicle is returned to stock tuning.

If I use the Microtuner, run the performace program for a while, then return the stock program to the PCM, are there bits in the PCM that can tell the dealer that the program was ever modified and returned to stock.

I'm asking because of waranty issues.

Thanks
Pete

There is a code left. You can use the Microtuner to clear this code and it will appear as if it was never tuned.

Great, that's what I wanted to hear.

Thanks

Thumbs up Need opinions on Superchips 1715 and Hypertech 41024 for F150 4.6L

I just got my Superchip #1715 for my 97 Explorer V8 AWD in the mail today. Why the heck doesn't FORD label the fuse box to designate what each fuse is for like all foreign cars do?? Once I figured out it was Maxi Fuse #3 for the fuel pump I was able to get the micro computer installed...very simple process. However I do have a couple questions related to exactly what the Superchip 1715 does for my Explorer V8, it seem like it only allowed me to adjust the shift point and pressure only...is there something else the Superchip is doing in terms of performance that I'm not fully aware of? I love the way it responds during all out acceleration from the start, 2nd gear gets a faint wheel chirp on size 31 tires...is that cool or what? I was hoping it allowed me to adjust for the 31" tires but it doesn't
My current mods include a MAC intake kit and a Flowmaster 70 series exhaust installed, I will be putting a set of high flow cats next weekend. Is there more that can be offered to optimize the Superchip peformance with the current mods I have?...just wondering
thanks!
Can anybody make me a nice set of custom headers for my 97 V8 Explorer?...pretty please?

For your Explorer the shift points and pressure are the only options you can change. Other vehicles allow you to calibrate the speedometer as well. That's pretty much all it gives in terms of options.
