I recently purchased a refurbished 302 HO motor from a company out east who "specializes" in it. They did not send a spec sheet to say what it was balanced or timed to. When I called and asked the only thing they told me was "it's built to that year specs" which they said is from 1982-1985. The problem I'm running into is the guy who is building the transmission for me needs to know certain things. I found the following numbers when I removed the oil pan and was wondering if anyone could shed some light:
C 20 E-B
E7AE-AA
D10E/ AA
And this I found on the block next to where the starter would mount: E5AE/C3B
An '82-85 5.0HO is not much of a HO.. those things made a wopping 150hp at the time being a low compression smog era motor. Were you hoping this was going to be a performance motor?
E5AE block is from 1985, that is about all that can be said about it.. it's noting remarkable and the casting numbers don't tell you anything about what is inside of it. What info is your trans guy looking for? Perhaps cam info to decide if the trans needs a high stall? If so that would be no, you will need to do some upgrades to this motor to get any real horsepower from it, those mods being better heads and a cam and possibly pistons too.
Engine balance will be 50oz based on the casting numbers too, the 5.0 balance changed from 28oz to 50oz in 1981 and all your casting numbers are later.
I'm going to put it it in a 1950 F1that I would like to put back to close to original as possible. this is my first build and my buddy who has built and refurbished cars for a long time is helping me out as much as he can,he's a Chevy guy so he's not too familiar with Fords. I wasn't looking for high performance just something g a little more modern than the typical flathead that came in it. The only thing the company would tell me is its 200hp. My buddy suggested a mid 80's 302 b/c it didn't have the emissions yet and 302 parts are easier to come by.
I believe the Trans guy is specifically looking for what it would be balanced to so he knows what kind of flywheel to get and maybe the timing but I would have to double check with him.

Your "buddy" should stick to what he knows. He certainly does not know Fords. "Didn't have the emissions yet" ? I got news for him, the "emissions" thing started 10 YEARS before this motor was made. And the later 302's ? They ALL make more power than the one you bought. The best were the 94-97 pickup/van 5.0's and the 96-2001 Explorer/Mountaineer 5.0's. Better blocks, better cranks, better cams, better heads, better everything. And don't let someone tell you the EFI cams won't work with a carb, that somply is not true. In fact a carb works even better with an EFI type cam. And "keeping it as close to original as possible" ? Well you're hardly doing that in this case by substituting a 302 for the flathead.
