The HO was only found in Mustangs, Cougars, and Lincoln Mk7 coupes, and it had a HO badge on top of the intake.
But that's pretty much irrelevant because all late model 5.0 motors share the same major components with the exception of the cam and pistons, so it's all too easy to turn a truck motor into a HO for example.

The most powerful engine from that era was the 1985 4bbl HO which made 210hp, the earlier 5.0 motors were 150hp weaklings and the while '86 supposedly produced 200hp it wore the worst SBF heads ever produced. IDing what you have won't be easy because there really is nothing unique on the outside of these engines. To positively ID you motor your will need the casting numbers, the block casting numbers are down by the starter but the head casting numbers are underneath so the intake has to come off to see them.
