Hi, I am a total noob when it comes to cars and trucks but here we go. Ive had this truck since 2011. Ran great when i got it. Ive had problems with the calipers and ive replaced both the fronts. I keep up on changing the oil regularly. The manifolds started rusting away a little over a year ago. Mechanics estimated around $1500 to replace them... Not happening... The shaking started recently after I pulled a trailer with 2.5 tons of shingles on 2 seperate occasions.
That being said, i can feel a little shaking while ideling. It was really only bad between 500 and 2000rpms. After 2000 it almost felt like a turbo and it would accelerate really fast and smooth until the gears switched. I figured i should change the oil. Now the shaking is more violent. Any advice or information is appreciated. Thanks.
Its a 2000 f150 5.4 v8

Reason: Model
I hadn't tried switching it off overdrive. Check engine light had been on from the rusting manifold. But it did start flashing after i changed the oil.
For some reason the shaking got worse after i changed the oil. It happened for a few days. Then i changed the oil. Dunno if that had anything to do with it.
That flashing CEL is your key...it is basically telling you what is going on. You really need to pull all the codes and then post what you find. Pretty good chance it is just a COP going/gone bad.....easy fix.
171 and 174 "normally" mean you have a vacuum leak that is effecting the left and right banks....... look at all the vacuum hoses on top of the motor.. to the EGR, vacuum canister, breather, etc... lots of smaller hoses and a couple 1/2 inch size. Pull off one at a time. Check for hard / cracked/ burnt, etc.
