I have a 1973 ford blue f100 with a 2brrl 302. I am trying to take the radiator out of it to be rodded. Its the original rad that seems to be in great condition no leaks. I am having a really tough time getting the transmission cooling lines off. I have used PB blaster since it had a little rust which is too be expected since its 40+ years old. But with two wrench, 2 hrs of waiting and brute force nothing budged.
I am sure I can get the rad core support bolts off, but I am almost to the point of clipping the lines and then just replacing them when I put the rad back. However, can I get at those lines without pulling the transmission?
Yes you can get to the lines without pulling the transmission. Depending on what you are going to use the truck for, you might want to put in another transmission cooler and/or a filter.
