Recently I was replacing a couple of injectors. So I get out my 2" torx40 and drive adapter attached to my torque wrench. I torque down the first injector with no issue. Then I went to torque the second and suddenly the whole wrench popped just about out of my hands. I noticed the torx bit was still in the bolt and my torque wrench flipped direction. I take a closer look and noticed the unthinkable. The top portion sheered off the bit and was no wear to be found. After a second of hoping for the piece to not be in the engine, I decided to look around on the ground first. Well it was my lucky day, I found the piece on the ground near the front tire.
Talk about a close one. See below.
If (God forbid) I ever have to change injectors, I'll invest in the forged, one piece deep impact Torx set from Harbor Freight. I was thinking of that the other day when torquing my oil rails, it would SUCK if the socket fell apart!
Pulling the cores out of the junk engine the other day, I broke 3 of them. A Craftsman, a Kobalt, and a chi-com cheepie. Finally got it done with a chi-com cheepie.
I've been meaning to show you all our latest find on pass oil rail fasteners. We have a tool that is perfect for those. It does 8mm on one side (03),, and T-30 on the other. It is a flex head with ratcheting. I will try n get a pic of it today.

I'd like to see what your talking about.
On the rails I use a Lisle 1/4" drive heat treated Torx with a flex head torque ratchet 1/4" drive. It fits in between the hvac box fine.

I just these too. If I am using the ones the OP showed, I have them tape with electrical tape b/c I've seen them snap like that. Just an extra "hope it never happens" Thank goodness you found it. What a PITA!
When installing injector hold downs you must use a 2" minimum shank Torx to prevent damage to the injector. The ones you show in the pic are too short.

Good to know. I've never done the job before, but if I do, now i'll be better prepared.
The Problem with snap on, mac, and sk,,, is none of them make one that is long enough to clear the injector wires,, yet short enough to clear the hvac box. I use sk on the injector clamps,, and I have to pound the bit out of the socket,, cut it down, then loctite it back in the socket. I've welded a few but they frown on warranting them if welded. Lol.

Glad it turned out OK!
Those ones from harbor frieght are just barely long enough and hold up well. I hate harbor freight stuff most of the time but once in while one or two things are okay
