Hi all! Ive come across this site quite a few times when searching the interweb for stuff on Ford trucks so thought I should finally just join and contribute vice just creeping out the site, lol. I'm the owner of a nice looking 2006 F350 Lariat crew cab. Unfortunately, my truck has the famous head gasket issue but only when I'm towing. Rather than fix it, I've been contemplating replacing it with a new F350. Not having payments is awfully nice though so I'm undecided.
Anyway, very glad to be here and looking forward to learning a lot from everyone's experiences. Thanks for having me!
Thanks Zip. You have a 6.0 as well?? Wait for it! lol. Brie i bought my truck in 2008, I was aware of the issues that these engines had however read that the issues had been ironed out and 2006/07 where the best years to buy. Yeah right! Ive had all the problems I read about previously.
I bought mine used in 08. I had to put in some injectors shortly after. It had a new engine in 05 at 75,000 kms. Some brass fillings were found in the oil pan. The truck has easy winters but it works pretty hard during the camping season. The only other problem I had was with the FICM, other than that just maintenance stuff.
Same with mine, hard summers, easy winters. What year is yours?? I haven't had any FICM issues yet but i have had the HPOP replaced and when doing that i upgraded the exhaust and did an EGR delete and new oil cooler etc...
Mine is an 03. Have only done the zoodad mod and took out the cat/muffler. I have toyed with the idea of doing an EGR delete. Maybe someday when I feel like tearing it apart.
That's my big question of the year, fix it or sell it /trade it. Not having payments is awfully nice so I may just fix it and put a tune on it to get a little more power out of it. I'm not a black smoke kind of guy so nothing incredibly extreme.
I had a edge on mine for a short time. Sold it. The extra power on the highest level was stupid. I may tune again someday but not with the canned tunes.
I do like driving mine. We we on the highway Monday, I pulled out to pass a guy. The turbo spools up and it's like a cannon shot. My wife says this thing has some power.
I nod and smile.
We probably start pulling the 5th wheel the first week of May.
