94 Explorer wont start
Whenever the key was turned on my 94 Explorer with 112k miles the starter relay would click but engine would not turn. I went thru the usual troubleshooting steps and determined that the problem was the starter. Replaced the starter, now the engine turns but no gas. It's not flooded, as a matter of fact I can't smell any gas at all.
Various sources including the internet suggested that the fuel pump relay under the carpet on the passenger side floor needed to be reset. To my disapointment the relay was already in the on or pushed in position, so I could not reset.
In the fuse box in the engine compartment there is a fuse( actually it looks more like a module) for the fuel pump relay. I wiggled the fuse a little and the truck started.
I am just a shade tree mechanic so I can't explain why that would work but it did. I hear the relay costs $140 from Ford, so try this first.
