Last time I talked to somebody that liked old fords like me we spent literally 4-6 hrs talking (me and my dad are probably the only people you can talk to for that long about ford trucks LOL). Went to check out a 99 F450 both of us went home knowing more then we did before plus found out the guy was one of the previous owners of my Harley.

Not to hijack....
My truck is a 2013 5.0 XLT BlueJean Blue with the chrome package.
Got a "Nice Truck" comment in a parking lot the other day. Not bad cause it was filthy with salt/dirt and is 2 years old now. lol

Be safe bro and by the way, share with us how your truck is holding up.
Tim thanks for the post. I to believe that the newer trucks need a little hard loving. I get told all the time buy my dealer just how good my MPG in my truck are. then I tell them it because of the first 500 miles I beat the living snot out of her and still clean out the soot every time I get on the freeway or pass someone!
My guess is that it had the original oil filter on it. Not sure if it still applies today but I worked for a rental car company 5-10 years ago and one of the MFG kept rejecting our turnback vehicles when they were able to determine the original oil filter was still on them at 25-30k. IIRC, the originals are plain white and no Motorcraft logo or anything. The retail ones are always branded.
One other note, I thought the Explorer Sport did not arrive until 2013 model year.

I think it would be pretty obvious when the drain plug is pulled and black pudding comes lumping out... LOL
To the OP, good post, and that's pretty much the experiences I've heard about the new trucks as well. My brother has been through several variants of Ford Trucks since the 90s, I've been through a few since the 80s. They've never let me down, and at this point, I see no reason to go elsewhere for my vehicle needs.
Brings back memories of my first few years of being a refer mechanic working on trane reefers, they had 1000 hour oil change intervals, the last series of these engines I had(4.108 Perkins diesel) would not make it to the 700 hour mark before there was 16 quarts of oil so thick it had to be diluted with a gallon of diesel fuel to get it to flow out the oil drain hose, it literally did come out like glup, glup, glup. Figured out that the rings and pcv conspired to kill these engines early!
