While prepping for my MPG test loop, I packed up a set of tools and then attempted to install the jack handle and lug wrench to discover it didn't want to be installed. There are two welded studs on the floor pan with, I presume, supposed to be two clamps and wing nuts. I only have one clamp on hand. Then the cab's pan has a mild hump so the long jack handle doesn't lay flat.
There are also two spring clamps for what I believe is supposed to be for the lug wrench.
How are these tools supposed to be mounted? Pics below:
I find it odd that my jack handle doesn't to lay flat... Maybe it's supposed to be slightly compressed under those clamps. I also find it odd that Ford used only one clip to secure the lug wrench cuz it'll rattle like heck.
.. and in case yall were wondering - yes, I did check the eight-lug thug... only to find out it has no tools whatsoever. Lemme put them on my next shopping list.
I have a 72. The jack and a short handle are held down with a clamp on top of the left fender inside the engine compartment. I have not lifted the seat up on mine yet to see what you are posting about...
I just checked my truck. My seat does not tilt up, or, I am a real weakling tonight....
