actually making progress on the stretch

Hey all, finally have gotten another day off (my 36 hours before the next group of campers come in) and spent the afternoon in the garage and I think its starting to look like a truck.

I've managed to get both sides and rear side windows welded in, as well as getting half of the roof filled, think one more evening of work and I might actually have an enclosed cab. I've realized in order to get it to look right I'm gunna have to extended the drip rails, but looking at a set I have off a donor cab, that shouldn't be hard at all.

I really hope to get pictures up soon, cuz I want opinions on the quality of the work and how its appearing (looks alright to me, but then I might have been sniffing too many welding and primer fumes) .

Well I figured I'd just pop in and say "Hi" and let yal know I'm still alive, hopefully once camps over in another couple of weeks, I'll be back to being a regular on here again

Jon

Hang in there, Jon. I'm impressed you used your time off to work on the truck instead of regaining some sanity after the departure of the campers.

haha, actually working on the truck has helped me keep my sanity, after spending a week with 160 middle schoolers and about 25 of my peers, all together 24 hrs a day 5 to 6 days a week, I kinda need the quiet time to myself and the garage works well. believe it or not, working on the truck is a stress reliever for me.

But yeah, progress has been slower than I had hoped, but I am making progress. I'm hoping that in the near future I'll be getting in my order for the square tubing and sheetmetal I'll need to build the floor and firewall. The I'll have the fun job of finishing the interior so that it looks stock.

Anyways, its off to camp I go once more, I'll try to check in sometime soon. I'll try and get to a scanner and get the pics up in the meantime.

When you get back, I'd really, really like to talk about how you go about the actual sheet metal work - either on the board or off-line depending on how many of your secrets you're willing to divulge.

yeah, once I'm back to being able to get to a computer on a regular basis, I'd be willing to answer any questions anyone has. I am by no means an expert at this, and am learning as I go (but have done a lot of research, reading, trial and error), but I'd be more than willing to share what I know.

Anyways, I'm off to prepare myself for a week with 160, 13 year olds... wish me luck.
