I got my truck back today; they dropped the pan again and found moisture contamination in the fluid. They flushed their tanks at the dealership and replaced all their fluid. Then they flushed my trans twice. They asked permission to drive the truck more than 50 miles to test it; naturally I was fine with this.

They called to report that it drove perfectly. I picked up the truck and have driven it about 50 miles myself. It shifts perfectly smooth again and there are no horrible noises. None of the symptoms remain.

When I spoke to the Ford regional manager, I pressed her to be sure the paperwork would "memorialize" this saga. When I picked up the truck I was sure to carefully read all of the documentation. It was all there; the contamination, noises, shift issues and the reference numbers to the other work orders.

The truck seems to be running great. If something should occur, there's no question they will take care of it. Additionally, They gave the truck a good wash before they gave it back (it was a bit dirty when I took it in).

All in all, they handled this very professionally, admitted the issue and took responsibility. Hopefully there are no ill effects. I doubt there will be.

This forum is very helpful in a situation like this; a great virtual community!

Glad to hear the issue is resolved to your satisfaction. Did they suggest any kind of longer warranty on the transmission?

I do agree too that it should be changed sooner than Ford recommends.

It's good to know your truck took 7 qts. At least that part of the repair went right.

Thanks MisterCMK.

If it got moisture in it, that's not good. _make sure you get that in writing. Ive seen damage from moisture in transmissions.

They offered no longer warrantee; however I have an extended warrantee that goes for 3 more years.

If it fails after that; I guess I did get screwed afterall...

It is definitely in writing tho; moisture and all!

Glad to hear it. Moisture can cause damage for sure, but that doesn't mean it will in the short time it was in there. You've got lots of warranty for the problem to show itself, and the documentation will be helpful if it happens after this.

You're keeping great perspective about all of this, most wouldn't be that calm. Glad to see this!

I don't like to say stuff like that, but I felt you should be aware of it.

I will say I questioned the Ford regional rep on this topic; she said her "team of engineers" assured her no damage occurred. I suppose we'll see...

I don't know what else to do really; I gave them all a difficult journey over this. I didn't take anything at face value. I'm not up for a legal fight; that will cost as much as a new transmission; there's always small claims court I guess.

I have to hope Ford proper would force the dealership to replace it if they felt it would fail.

Thank you Deysha. I appreciated how the Ford rep stepped up the game on this issue and I believe helped in ensuring my paperwork adequately disclosed this ordeal.

The truck is running great. I have a couple of work trips over the next few weeks; so the truck will see little use. But soon after that is the trip I mentioned above; it will see a good workout.

Many thanks to you and your colleagues!

It got towed back to the dealership today. All the symptoms returned; I was not even towing.

I also called Ford and left word for the regional rep who has been helping me.

I leave tomorrow morning on a work trip to Grand Rapids, MI. I won't be back home till late thursday night. They have basically all week with the truck. I don't know what's next; but it better be a new transmission. Something got damaged and its causing these symptoms to come and go.

I'll post updates as I get them; probably won't be any news till next week; plus my work schedule away from home limits my time online.

I'm VERY unhappy! I want this to be over!

It's unfortunate the OP never came back to update us. Good to see eriebasin has a good dealer and is being taken care of. What an interesting read this was
