near the air filter housing?
there should be two sensors there, the air intake temp sensor, and the air filter restriction sensor.

the air intake temp sensor is on the box itself that is the one you see. the filter restriction sensor is in a hole in the intake tube rite near where it comes out of the box going to the turbo. looks like this only with an electrical plug on it. :

Well I guess that would explain why I have an extra connector with no place for it. The sensor on mine does not have a wire connector on it. I guess the previous owner must have changed it with the wrong sensor ! I did a bunch of work on this truck this past winter, so I figured I missed something along the way. Should I replace it with the correct one? or is it not a big deal. Probably is a Ford OEM part correct.
Thanks for Your Help !
Roger

not really needed if you pay attention to your air filter.
the electrical connector is for the people that do not know how to open their hood let alone check anything under it. when the filter gets clogged, it will light a light in the dash.

no problem.
when i bought my 02 the filter restriction light was lit. the guy said it jusr came on and thought it was a low tire indicator. i took the plugged filter out and replaced the complete airbox and filter assembly with a 6637 and a filter cover. i change and wash the filter cover every 6 months. 6 years and 40,000 miles later i replaced the filter because i figured it was time, and th efilter was still good. so i put it on the 88.
