That one looks not too bad compared to some customs. It can be re-customized without a real lot of effort, and driven in the meantime.
We've seen some that are irreversibly modified and undriveable for more $$ than that.
As to the question 'Why', well I can sort of see the plan he had and it was followed through. Just my guess - It being for sale now means that it is no longer of interest to him and is making it available to the next guy who wants to leave it as-is or do whatever they want to it. Sure beats letting it sit for years in a field to rot not ever for sale.
Maybe if the reserve isn't met it will be re-listed and lowered until it does sell. Some trucks go for a huge amount of money that boggles my mind, doesn't hurt to try that first.
Yep, all in all this one has some character. Ought to be interesting to see what the top bid will be.
OK, I am one who on a regular basis condemns rat rods but this truck actually has some design merit to it, IMO. I think hanging crappy do dads on it diminishes the overall quality of the build but I think the overall idea is king of cool. Better than a total rusty tetanus carrying piece of crap most rat rods usually are. With a little metal work and decent paint it could turn out pretty neat. But not worth $13K.

Hence my question. I think the hand grenade shifter, ammo cans, and rusty wrench bumpers have been done to death.
