05 Excursion Radiator line difficulties

Hello all, I recently changed out the water pump on the Excursion. While installing the shrouds, I snapped the degas bottle fitting off. So after the purchase of a new radiator, everything fit great except the Transmission lines don't fit at all. The guys at the local Napa, tried and also failed to find a suitable replacement. Any ideas or suggestions?? Is there an adapter kit out there I haven't found yet? What about cutting in new fittings, size suggestions or brands?? Thanks in advance everyone.

I recommend getting your money back on the junk fitting part and buying a different brand. You don't want to make permanent mods to make a bad part fit and cause headaches down the road. Believe it or not I have gotten great deals on radiators from both Amazon and rock auto.

Oh, also, perhaps they sold you one that fits an 05 f250? Try a 2004 excursion radiator and see if its different

Maybe you got the wrong radiator for your engine.

I'm showing that the V8, V10 and 6.0 all have different radiators. I'm also showing that the 7.3 diesel is not the same radiator as the 6.0 (but in most applications the V10 and 7.3 radiators are the same). For most applications, the Excursion and the F250 seem to be the same, but I didn't dig too deep.

This 110%.

I was in a crunch last time, nearly same issue except my in radiator trans fitting crumbled off the radiator. I ended up running a Hayden cooler in line with the stock one and it works great, however to do so I had to cut and flare the stock trans-to-cooler feed line. Now there's just a whole new can of worms to deal with when the new trans goes in... Need a new radiator, new feed line, and ripping the radiator out wasn't fun the first time with all the crap around it. of course that's comparing it to the Chevelle which is literally six 5/8" bolts and its out...

Keep things stock style for as long as possible. I imagine in the next 5-7 years we all may have to start retrofitting and modifying components. Just during this current trans build I'm doing, a lot of the parts I'm getting I've hard to return as they're now made in Taiwan and some of them have between .040 and .050" extra tolerance over the original stock components. Which is huge in a transmission drum spline, it's ridiculous.

This was purchased from Rock auto. I double checked it online twice an then called. The customer service people confirmed all the numbers, but couldn't do much else as they are not techs. I will probably have to either go back to Ford for the actual part or get some fittings and adapt the lines. Either way it's going to be a bit before I get back to it. I am out of town for work this week. Thanks again for the input all.

You WILL NOT find adapters for these crazy a$$ Ford lines. Ford did change the cooler lines in 2005 on many of the radiators. What part# did you get? I spent over 20 years in the cooling business and have a little insight. Also can you be more descriptive as to "why" they do not work?

I couldn't tell if you have an '05 with a V10 or a diesel, but I just had this s***-sandwich fed to me 4 days ago. Luckily it didn't leave me stranded anywhere, but when I got home from running errands last week, I smelled the tell-tale smell and saw the dripping from under the engine. Opened her up to find mine doing the Ford Radiator Splitting at the Seams Dance. Again...

Anyway, if yours is like mine... 2005 V10, then I have the EXACT part number from Ford according the last 8 of my VIN.

4C3Z-2627204-AA

That's it. Hope this helps if you have the same setup as me. It was perfect plug-and-play including tranny cooler lines.
