I need to replace a short vacuum hose that is rotted on my truck. I removed the old one and took to AZ to replace. they did not have a replacement so they gave me some vacuum line but it does not fit. I have attached a photo of what I think is the map sensor but it does not look like most map sensors I've seen.
No, that is a Vapor Management Valve used on 1996 F150/Broncos. These vehicles use Mass Airflow (MAF) therefore there is no MAP sensor. The VMV is a fancier version of the Canister Purge solenoid (CANP). It's used to control fuel vapor from the fuel tank.
Haynes does have a few gaps in their data and so do a lot of other sources. Should be able to get some hose if you reference the size from the CANP to that port on the throttle body. Remember, the VMV replaced the Canister Purge (CANP) solenoid. Generic vacuum line rated for fuel vapors will work just fine....
