vin decode

Hello everyone im new here.Im having trouble decoding my 1963 econoline van.I found vin number on lip of floor under doghouse.it reads 128071a5921190L. im confused because it doesnt start with E 100 please help thanks!

that is not the VIN number
a 63 will only have an 11 digit VIN.
there should be a warranty data plate on the driver side door.

Your Econoline was sold new in Canada, because this is a Canadian only VIN

1961/64's have VIN's like the above, 1965's have the codes reversed (5921190L-128071A), 1966/68's sold new in Canada have the same 11 digit VIN as US Econolines.

128071 = Numerical Sequence of Assembly.

A = 3,601-5,600 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

5 = 6 Cylinder Engine.

92 = E100 Van.

11 = 100 Series - refers to both Ford & Mercury Econolines.

90 = 90" Wheelbase.

L = Left Hand Drive.
