NEED HELP WITH THIS VIN
just got this truck from a friend,but not sure about the year.was told it is a 61 merc.any help with the vin breakdown would be great,i am new here and looks like a great forum.thanks... vin is 142349A-59910221

Canadian only VIN, but it's typed bassackwards. Should be: 5991022L-142349A.
5 = V8 engine.
99 = Styleside Pickup.
10 = 100 Series.
22 = 122" Wheelbase.
L = Left Hand Drive.
142349 = Numerical Sequence of Assembly (the trucks specific serial number).
A = Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 3,600-5,600 lbs.
I cannot decode what year serial number 142349 refers to. It's prolly 1961, but try mercurypickups.com to be sure.
