Tires for Explorer?

Anyone else notice the tires on the explorer wore smooth out 22k miles? I would have expected more miles before they had to be replaced.

22000 is still low for front wheel drive. Rotated and proper aligned and inflated, you should see at least mid 30s if driven hard, 40 and up for more relaxed driving. ymmv

the wife's 2013 sport is still on the originals (that look good!) and she is at about 38,000 miles - and she squeals those tires even when parking

My wife drives with both feet flat on the floor... We had a ford flex prior and was always putting tires on it!

I just put new Bridgstones on my wifes 2012 xlt fwd. The stock Michelins had almost 65000 miles on them and still had useable tread left. I was pretty faithful with rotations too.

one thing I noticed when looking for replacement tires for 2012 XLT 18" is that most tire tread depths do not exceed 13/32". This is ridiculous, they could easily be as deep as 18/32". I am sure there is a reason for this (I hope safety and not perceived performance), but at a wear rate of 2/32" to 3/32" per year, you can see why you are not getting the life you expected (or were used-to)...any thoughts??

I have half your mileage....11,000 and still have 7 mm tread left. We run about 3/4 hwy driving, usually at 65 mph.
