Keeping stock speedo

What overdrive transmission swaps can be done and still keep the stock cable-driven speedometer? Auto and manual options please.

If I could have everything I want, it would be a non-computer controlled auto behind a carbed DOHC 4.6 revving to 7000 rpm(maybe 7500). But my gut says I will need a manual trans.

Well, after digging around a bunch, it looks like my only option will be a T-45 5 speed with a Fox body speedo driven gear. May or may not survive in factory form, but I did find a handful of companies that can build it for more power.

I really do wish I could use a AOD for my build, but the bellhousing pattern will not work with the Mod-motors, and my plans are for a 32 valve 4.6 liter.

That said, post a pic or two of your Nash!

No such thing exists as a Fox body speedo DRIVEN gear!

The same 16T thru 21T nylon DRIVEN gears have been used since the 1950's in everything .. all are available from Ford.

Fox body includes: 1978/83 Fairmont/Zephyr; 1979/86 Capri; 1979/91 Mustang; 1980/82 Thunderbird/Cougar/Continental Mark VI; 1982/88 Continental sedan; 1983/86 LTD/Marquis and etc etc etc..

Thanks for the pics whalepirate. Looks like a fun car. Not sure why your posts have been changed...

Bill, thanks for your post. Even though I probably worded it wrong, we both knew what I was talking about.
