Baja, just being a smart *** here, but the term is "Dyno" for "Dynamometer", although all of these are dinos for dinosaurs.

Mas O menos amigo, 352 was a good motor, as was the 360, and 390.. Lots of parts out there.. Good to see you are doing some homework. Congratulations on the good woman.. Those that put up with gear-heads are rare..

Well I had him get me the vin and the engine code is Y so it's a 360. I may have found a 390 donor though so I will just convert it when I go through the motor. This isn't the truck I want long term so I may just try and flip it and get more than I paid and use the capital to work towards getting the one I wanna keep.

What are the best things to do to it to increase value?

Value? It's like buying a house.

Cleanliness, workmanship, and ensuiring everything works. Undo all past hacks and don't create any new ones!

Detailing is the most low-buck approach. It costs time and only a lil bit in supplies.

A vehicle that's all one color and clean, Clean inside cab no rips or broken seat covers, All one color wheels with good tires, A good running engine fast starts with no carb issues. Brakes need to work good, A clean engine bay.

Not a bunch of oil leaks from engine & tranny. No steering issues plus good tire no balancing problems up to 65 mph, Good floor pans an cab mounts not rusted out, Over all body condition no rust!

So now you'll have about 10-12k into it and about 4+ yrs of free time.

This may not get you much more cash then you spend on it but a much better selling points.

All add up. You have to remember the yr of these classic as they are now and have been in the need of many repairs. And need parts to be replaced or having a lot of fix it issues.

You don't want buy a truck that been sitting parked for many yrs.

You'll have many of the things, I listed being wrong with these old trucks.

They are like opening a can of worms. You never know what's going wrong with one until it been on the road a for a couple of months.

Most of the time you get what you pay for. But there's always a good deal some where some place, but it may not be loco and shipping may be is needed and that would be a good deal killer.

Well I'm buying the truck for $650. It needs some cleaning up. Only downfall is I haven't seen it yet. I'll have to make my final decision to buy it wen I see it. I would think even just by cleaning up the engine bay sanding some rust if the panel isn't rusted through and priming it cleaning up the interior and just doing some maintenance I should be able to get at least $1500 out of it. Yeah?

Alright guys I came across a 72 2wd camper special with a 429. Did these trucks come with a 429 in 72? Also the guy said he had the truck looked at and his mechanic said a couple cylinders were low on compression. What's it cost to rebuild a 429 compared to the fe's? Its a 385 series isn't it? I'm also trying to get a hold of a guy selling a 78 250 42wd with a 400 and 4 speed. We'll see how that goes.

Rich is right, on the 10 to 12K for a complete restore, and there is always something to do, or pending. Tires, steering, and clean under the hood help to sell a truck. Clean clean clean..

No Ford PICKUP truck ever came with a 429. The most cubes a Bump ever saw from Ford was 390. Dents saw the 460 (4X2). Yes, both 429 and 460 are 385 series.

Well I pulled the trigger on the 72. Its gonna need some love'n but it's gonna be fun. Get used to seeing my name cause I'm gonna need some help. Like where I can get some good 429 conversion motor mounts. The ones in it have been seriously presidentially engineered. Lol

I will post some pics up later today when I can get some. Meanwhile how do I find out what year make and model car my engine came out of? Where are the numbers on the block heads and intake manifold located?

Intake numbers are usually on the front runner close under the carb between it and the distributor. Often the wires block your view. Many start with a big "S". Head numbers are between the middle two spark plugs. Again, your view is usually obstructed by the plug wires.
