im getting ready to order some new 15x7 rims for my ranger. previously it had the stock 14x5.5s. i know that the bolt pattern is 5x4.5. only question i have is this backspacing. there is like a 3 inch and a 4inch version of the wheel i want. the ranger is 94 2wd 5sp 2.3 will both of these fit? which one wpould i probly be better with?
Hey there 1yamman350. Both sound ok. It all depends on if you want the wheels and tires to give you more track width, for better cornering and stability or if you want the stock look and feel. You may want to go with a 60's series tire, so you're not messing around trying to recalibrate your speedo. It's a small expense, but you can use the money for cruzing around... 3" will put them out, 4" will bring them in. Have fun and enjoy!!
actually the sizes are 3 3/4 and 4 1/4. will they still fit? also you say that the lower backspacing will give the truck a wider stance?
also what size lugs do i need to order? if your not sure how do i measure them?

There are a few. More than likely, they'll be in MM's..... The back spacing is for options to most people. If you run the rear rims at 3" or 3 3/4", they will stick out a bit farther than the 4 1/4" ones. When you order your wheels, the salesman should offer the type of lugs you'll need. And get a set of wheel locks as well. The 15.00 or so is a good security measure. BEFORE you have to tires mounted, please have the rims checked for true roundness. Somtimes in shipping, they get put through some banging around. If you are buying them from a parts outlet, you should do an initial test on them all while you are there. A nice tiled floor will show any obvious imperfections. I think you get the picture. One last thing. Get with the manufacturer and see what they recommend to keep your wheels in great shape. There are just too many products out there to choose from and may go against the warranty. Talk with you later.....
well i ordered the wheels. actually got 15x6. think thats whats stock on 15 rangers anyway. they are Cragar Nomad 2 and i got them on sale for 26.00 a pop thats why i changed my mind and went with 15x6. backspacing is like 3 3/8. any ideas on where to buy the center caps for these wheels? looking at the catalog it looks like a lot of the cragar wheels have the same ones so i am hoping they wont be hard to find. thanks
Hey there 1yamman350! Thanks for getting back to us! Are those like the old NUGGET type Cragar used to produce? Great Price!
I would lean towards the Steel chrome caps. When the Plastic ones are used, when you torque the wheels down, the lip is fairly small and has a tendency to break.
If you can afford it, check out the tri-spinners that may fit and they look great!
I'm glad there are people out there, willing to go the extra length to find good deals.. Maybe the aftermarket product manufactures will tend to charge less for NEW items when they first appear on the market... I can always hope right? Talk with you guys later....
u guys should check out summits clearance. i also got a pair of ventvisors for 15 where they are over 28 everywhere else. i find good deals because i am 16 and on a very limited budget. thats why i got this ranger. great gas milage!
Hey 1yamman350! You did get enough vent visors for those of us that responded to your post didn't you? HEE HEE!
Aren't you supposed to have money to have a budget?
I forgot to finish my earlier reply. The caps you can get at any decent auto parts outlet. They should have a catolog(s) there for you to look through. They should be as close as possible to the center hole of the rims. I've seen some guys special order them and they end up to large or too small. Good luck, and send us some pics of before and after.... Talk with you later....
