Center Console Conversion....

Well, enough of the problems, now for some improvments...

I bought a fold down console from an excursion off of ebay about 1-1.5 yrs ago and put it into the corner upon arrival and there it sat....til now... Finally had some free time and the motivation to get it done. Here goes....

This is what I started with...

Then I started pulling the seats out... in case anyone is wondering, to remove the seats it takes a Torx-55 and a 18mm wrench....

Then I put the frame for the fold down in place to verify that it would line to the existing seat frame bolt holes like I was told. This occurred on the front mounts, but as you can see the back holes did not match up to the existing seat mounts. Uggggghhhhhh.............sooooo....I step in to the shop and find some 1/2" bolts , 1/2" tap and the 27/64ths tap drill..........but for once I get lucky because as soon as i start drilling for the holes and break thru the carpet, there is a drilled and tapped hole already there, just that the carpet was covering it. But I didnt have a metric bolt, cuz I learned long time ago that everything on these trucks is metric, so I very carefully ran my tap into each hole and installed the bolts and bolted the console in place.

And then to reinstall the seats...

And, I got lucky again, cuz it started pouring down raining not 2 minutes after I installed the last seat and picked up the tools. That will never happen again......

Now...just to replace the seat covers.... does Ford still sell the Lariat seat covers for a 14 yr old truck? Anyone got a link to aftermarket seat covers?

Check with a local seat shop and see what they can do for you. In addition to the covers, adding some foam does wonders to the comfort level.

There is a recent thread about some really nice replacement covers for the leather seats. It was either here or the site that has "stop" in the name.
