Hello all i found a post the other day and couldn't find it even when searched. When it's usually in the low 30's my 2006 250 has a hard start. I'll wait for the glow plugs to warm up then it'll crank for a little while. Then I'll stop and try again. It'll turn over then shut off. By the third time it usually fires right up. Later in the day it doesn't have this issue even after sitting for awhile. After it starts up a little bit of black smoke comes out of the exhaust. Didn't notice the black smoke previously but checked this morning and there was a little. Still waiting for my edge insight to deliver so can't test for any codes. Thanks for any advice.

Does it sound like this? This isn't when it was at its worst, as I would sometimes have to give it 2-3 tries before it would stay going without a rough stall. I had a bad FICM, and also have some continuing stiction problems.

Thanks for the quick response. It's hard to hear on the video but kind of sounds like that. Sometimes doesn't rattle like that though. With my edge insight will it pick up on the FICM if it's going bad?
Test ficm voltage, watch while cranking. It should stay about 45. Do you have any consistent cylinder contribution codes? Are there any glow plug codes?

Tested the FICM with my volt meter it tested 48 volts. When reinstalling my coolant reservoir it doesn't look right. Looks like the reservoir is tilted up slightly. Don't think it was tilted like that when I in bolted the bolts to move it to the side for the FICM test
