We just bought a 2014 Explorer and have a vibration issue. Somewhere between 30 and 42 MPH the passenger floor vibrates just enough to say hey this isn't right. Took it back to the dealer and he couldn't find anything wrong, but tightened a heat shield anyhow. Thought it might be a tire/wheel outta balance so, I took it to a tire shop, they said nope feels like a front axle or cv joint. Anybody got any ideas?
First avenue of attack is a bad tire, splitting maybe. Feel around the tread surface for a bulge. If no luck, switch tires around....left to right, or front to back....see if your vibration changes. Tires take the brunt of the road attack, they will act up. (Steve, a witness)
That was my first thought also, until the tire tech said not the wheel. I'll go have them checked and rotated anyhow.
Hi linedog,
How did the tire rotation go? Are you still experiencing the vibration? Let us know and I'll research some ways to help. How many miles are on the Explorer currently?
Hello Crystal, our Explorer is a certified new car with 24,000 miles on the odometer. I hope to get the tires swapped this week. I'll keep everyone posted.

Thanks for responding, linedog, and offering to keep us in the loop. I'll continue to hang around this thread in case you need my assistance.
Update, I have an appointment to drop the Explorer off at a different dealership on Thursday. Thinking maybe a different set of eyes or heads thinking about it may help.

That sounds like a wise next move, linedog. You know how to reach me if you have any additional questions or concerns.
Thanks Crystal, my Explore spent the day at a dealership. The mechanic agrees with me and there is a vibration, but due to some traffic issues he was not able to pinpoint the issue. It's going to spend the weekend there and they are going to jump on it Monday.
